11:15-- Guest_3363: Saturday was great. Thanks to all who bought the machines and to the centre of computing history, I really enjoyed that line up. A huge selection of items to browse from the traders, spent a good time looking through that lot, and just so happened to come across a ctm 644 Amstrad monitor from the nice people at RockRaBiLia, what a find! Does anyone know who the lads were doing the chip tunes in the bar, and is it available for purchase/download?
13:39-- Morkin: Awesome day yesterday - big slap on the back for everyone involved..! :)
16:10-- Guest_9456: Bit gutted everything was packing up at 4 and pretty much gone by 5! :(
17:13-- SimonLCFC: Fantastic event, both days. Thoroughly enjoyed it, except the bit where I was in the zone playing Tron and somebody switched the machines off!
17:33-- Dave: Great event, thanks to everyone that bought their collections for people to play on. Some wonderful computers and consoles I'd never had the chance to see back in the day.
19:50-- vox: Great day. felt like i was 13 all over again. clocked up some high scores. bought a few bits......checked out the pretty ladies :P
20:42-- Guest_8901: great event on both days. Videos of talks to be available soon?
5:19-- Guest_1966: thanks Chris et al for a great show. A supreme efforts. Looking forward to next time.
19:42-- Guest_8355: How come it all finished up early on Sunday? I thought everything was open til 6?
22:43-- Craig: Glad you all enjoyed it; finishing time was always 5pm on Sunday although there may have been the odd typo here and there. Some exhibitors are forced to leave early depending on their journey time as they had to be at work today, such as guys in Scotland and European visitors. We ensured they did not start until after 4pm though for safety reasons as most people had left by then.
22:45-- Craig: Our official photographer/videographer Paul will be compiling his footage into a special mini-documentary on the event as a type of online souvenir of the event, which will come soon. Until then many visitors have flooded Facebook and YouTube with photos and videos of the best of the event :)
21:36-- Guest_9456: Craig it says 6pm Sunday everywhere I can see even still now. Unfortunately our little party had to make it Sunday only and planned the day such that we'd get some time in on the machines in the main hall 4-6 so you can imagine our disappointment when they started disappearing. Not a massive criticism as I'd still come and pay the same for an event 2 hours long, and the event was otherwise fantastic, but if people are gonna be allowed o
21:37-- Guest_9456: .....bugger off at 4 (because they very very understandably have to) and the place pretty much deserted by 5 then just say!
21:38-- Guest_9456: That soad
21:39-- Guest_9456: that said, my lesson is to definitely come on Saturday, and the event still exceeded expectations by miles so well played to everyone involved, and thanks to everyone who made a massive effort to enable us to come and indulge in a bit of retro!!
21:49-- Chris: Hi there - looking around at times, where did you see it closed at 6pm just for info? On the event page it states 5pm on the Sunday. Glad you enjoyed it though :-)
21:55-- Chris: Ahh I see it on the RG forum - OK , sorry about that.

What is Revival?

545362 365647260192733 912426468 n

Over the weekend of the 18th and 19th May 2013 we launched our first Retro Expo event that we called Revival. The event will be annual going forwards and will be 100% retro - celebrating gaming and nostalgia throughout the 70's, 80's and 90's. We have some great partners in The Retro Computer Museum, The Centre for Computing History and UK Vac and together we plan to annually put on the largest retro only event in the UK.

Wolverhampton Race Course Venue PDF Print E-mail

Wolverhampton Racecourse is the ideal venue for meetings, conferences and exhibitions. Their recently modernised conference suites are suitable for all types and sizes of events, especially retro gaming events such as Revival.

The venue features 4 completely interlinked areas, accessed through the adjoined Holiday Inn reception lobby. The Ringside Suite, Chasers bar area, Concourse viewing area and Weigh Inn Bar will play host to an assortment of retro gaming and related gaming culture exhibits and hopefully up to 25 traders selling all manner of gaming memorabilia, retro gaming items, retro toys and other collectibles as souvenirs of our premiere show! Exhibits will be evenly spaced to ensure even traffic over the weekend, but each area will have it's own purpose as follows:

Concourse - will be where visitors gain admission and feature a mix of retro culture exhibits and traders, as well as lead to all other areas of the show and toilet facilities.

Weigh Inn - is the main bar of the show with a selection of mainstream and local ales. It will likely also play host to the planned Saturday evening gaming-themed entertainment

Chasers - is the quieter corner of REVIVAL, hosting our exclusive talks and presentations from guest retro celebrities and likely incorporate a dedicated 'gaming chillout zone' hosted by Surface Tension
Ringside - is the largest area of the show and will likely contain the majority of our larger gaming exhibits, such as the arcade machines and pinball tables and likely additions of Pachinko and other arcade gaming machines. The main stage for announcements and competitions will also be set up in this suite.

This venue steps the overall show floor space up by about 40% over our previous planned venue, but still offers the best zoning to accommodate dedicated gamers, casual visitors and the expected smaller social pockets of the community as they see fit. With the efforts we are making there will be many more exclusives than other shows, more to see and buy and also discounts we are seeking to make it a great value weekend for those travelling distance and the definitive retro gaming event in the show calendar! Grab your tickets now!
